Houston -- Waste Management Inc. (WM) has announced it earned $183 million, or 31 cents per share, in its fourth quarter, which ended Dec. 31, 2003. This compares with WM's earnings of $236 million or 39 cents per share during the same period in 2002. According to the company, the decrease resulted from an accounting change. Nevertheless, WM reported its 2003 revenue increased 5.7 percent to $2.97 billion, and the company estimates 2004 earnings will increase $11.9 billion to $12 billion.
