Pa. Awards Waste Recovery Grants

Harrisburg, Pa. – Pennsylvania’s Environmental Protection Secretary Kathleen McGinty has announced that the agency will spend $137,600 for two Waste Recovery Demonstration Grants, which will be used to develop resource-recovery projects in two counties.

Liberty Township and McKean County in partnership with RecycleAll Inc. will received $100,000 to develop a manufacturing process that uses mixed, recyclable glass as a raw material in the production of concrete products, such as highway barriers and drainage outlet boxes. Additionally, the city of Philadelphia and the White Dog Cafe will received $37,600 for an onsite, in-vessel food composting project.

Demonstration projects must recover at least 50 percent of refuse entering the waste stream.
