Framingham, Mass. — Ameresco Inc. has announced an agreement with BMW Manufacturing Corp. and Houston-based Waste Management Inc. to deliver renewable energy from the Palmetto Landfill in Spartanburg, S.C., to BMW’s manufacturing facility through a 9.5-mile pipeline.

Ameresco will design, build, and own the pipeline, gas processing and gas compression facilities, which will connect Waste Management's Palmetto Landfill through the pipeline to BMW’s facility. The gas then will be used to fuel up to four gas turbines that will cogenerate electricity and hot water for the facility. The landfill gas (LFG) is expected to fulfill about 20 percent of the facility’s energy requirements.
