Fairbanks Gets Tough on Alaskan Flying Trash
Fairbanks, Alaska -- Residents transporting trash that is not covered, tied or weighted down can expect to receive $100 fines from Fairbanks North Star Borough Assembly employees, news sources report. Any drivers bringing uncovered loads of trash to landfills or transfer stations will face the fee, which can rise to $300 on subsequent violations. A law already bans loose trash in truck beds, which is blamed for roadside litter, but until now, the borough has not been enforcing the law because of court expenses.
