Silver Spring, Md. -- The Solid Waste Association of North America has issued a call for papers to be presented at the Third Annual Special Waste Conference in New Orleans Dec. 10-12, 2003. Abstracts are due by May 15, 2003, and topics include: electronic waste; CCA-treated wood recycling; product stewardship; "zero waste" and how it applies to special waste; measuring actual environment and/or public health impacts of special wastes; mercury and mercury-containing products handling and recycling; medical waste screening and handling; radioactive wastes; contaminated soils.

Abstracts should include a topic description, a summary of the data that will be presented and some of the major conclusions. Send abstracts to Steve Ridzon, program manager. Call or e-mail Ridzon at (240) 494-2241 and sridzon@swana.org.
