The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries Inc. (ISRI), Washington, has announced the official formation of the Senate Recycling Caucus, after nearly two years of effort and the successful creation of the House Recycling Caucus earlier this year. After discovering that many elected leaders displayed the same level of knowledge about recycling as the general public, ISRI decided to form the caucuses to educate members of Congress about recycling at all levels, and “to help our representatives develop legislation that expands the marketplace for U.S. recycled products, including scrap metal, paper, plastic, glass, textiles, rubber and electronics,” said ISRI president Robin Wiener in an official statement. “We are thrilled with the response of Congress to this effort.”
