Schnitzer Steel Acquires Metal Recycling Company

Portland-based Schnitzer Steel has acquired metal recycler Regional Recycling, Atlanta. Schnitzer paid $65.5 million for the purchase, as well as assumed certain liabilities. Regional Recycling’s former operation will operate under the name Regional Recycling, a Schnitzer company, and will remain headquartered in Atlanta. Five Georgia locations and three Alabama locations will remain operating.

Byron Kopman and David Romanoff, executives for Regional Recycling, will now be executive directors for Schnitzer’s Southeast operations.
