Republic Services Reports 2004 First Quarter Earnings

Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. -- Republic Services Inc. has reported first quarter earnings for 2004 increased 7.2 percent from $594.6 million in first quarter 2003 to $637.3 million. Net income for the company was reported at $56.9 million for 2004, up from $54.6 million in first quarter 2003. Operating income of $110 million for first quarter 2004 increased from 2003’s $105.4 million. According to Chairman and CEO James E. O’Connor, "the company has recorded its highest internal growth rate since 2000 and [is] well-positioned to achieve [its] 2004 financial objectives."
