Houston-based Waste Management reports a net income of $241 million on revenues of $3.3 billion for first-quarter 2008. Both are increases from a net income of $238 million on revenues of $3.2 billion for the same quarter 2007.

“We started the year on a solid note as we again accomplished our primary financial goals of earnings growth, margin expansion and strong free cash flow,” said David P. Steiner, CEO of Waste Management, in a press release. “The 9.3 percent growth in adjusted earnings per share is an impressive accomplishment in the current business environment.”
