Michigan To Stop Issuing Bonds For Landfills
Lansing, Mich. The Michigan Strategic Fund has concluded that landfills do not create enough jobs to receive taxpayer subsidies, according to a report in The Detroit News. In a reversal of a policy that baffled ecologists, the [agency] decided Thursday that waste companies can no longer tap state-issued, tax-free bonds to expand landfills, the paper reports.
