MRM Unveils National E-Waste Recycling Initiative
The Electronic Manufacturers Recycling Management Co. (MRM), Minneapolis, announced a national recycling initiative that includes infrastructure that electronics manufacturers can use to provide recycling opportunities to their customers. The initiative will include expanding its e-waste recycling compliance services to manufacturers in California, Connecticut, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
"MRM is focused on enhancing the sustainability of individual company brands and product offerings through convenient, environmentally sound and efficient recycling," said David Thompson, president of MRM, in a press release. "This type of collaborative effort is essential to providing consumers with convenient recycling opportunities and to achieving practical, long-term solutions."
MRM, in its second year of operation, is a joint venture between Panasonic Corp. of North America, Sharp Electronics and Toshiba America Consumer Products to serve the needs of electronics manufacturers who will be responsible for take-back of products under new e-waste recycling laws. Its currently operates in only Minnesota and Texas.
