Home Depot to Recycle CFL Bulbs

Atlanta-based Home Depot has launched a national recycling program for compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs at all of its 1,973 locations. The free services allows customers to bring in any expired and unbroken CFL bulbs and turn them over to store associates behind the returns desk.

"With more than 75 percent of households located within 10 miles of a Home Depot store, this program is the first national solution to providing Americans with a convenient way to recycle CFL [bulbs]," said Ron Jarvis, senior vice president of environmental innovation for Home Depot, in a press release.

Home Depot sold more than 75 million CFL bulbs in 2007. Prior to the new program, IKEA was the only other chain to accept CFL bulbs.
