Cincinnati Announces Recycling Goals
Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory has announced the city’s newest recycling plan, which includes a 50 percent increase in recycling efforts by 2011. The “Green Cincinnati Recycling Plan” also includes four new drop-off locations in downtown, a new Web page where citizens can register for recycling and a recycling program for tailgating events at Bengals home games.
“Cincinnati does a good job of recycling, but I know we can do better,” said Mallory, in a press release. “Recycling is essential, and we need to make it part of our everyday lives.”
According to a press release, the city currently recycles 9 percent of its total waste. Its goal is to increase recycling to 15 percent to increase the rebate it receives from the Hamilton County Solid Waste District, which will reduce the cost of the city’s recycling program.
