  • Geocycle US, Dundee, Mich., has acquired Premier Environmental Management, St. George, S.C.

  • Keep America Beautiful, Stamford, Conn., has released the results of its annual Great American Cleanup, which included more than 30,000 events in all 50 states. For the year, 2.8 million volunteers removed 200 million pounds of litter and debris, including material from 3,500 illegal dump sites.

  • The U.S. Coast Guard broke ground on a landfill gas cogeneration plant in Baltimore.

  • TransLoad America, South Orange, N.J., announced the opening of Central Waste Inc., a 1,400-acre facility in Smith Township, Ohio.

  • Republic Services, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., announced the $37 million sale of Living Earth Technology Company, a stand-alone compost, mulch and soil business in Texas.

  • The New York State Association for Reduction, Reuse and Recycling introduced a membership organization to provide a forum for college students, faculty and staff to share information about environmental problems and solutions, and give them access to industry professionals.

  • Baton Rouge, La., was selected by the Curbside Value Partnership to start a pulic relations campaign to increase curbside recycling.
