THE CITY OF TUCSON IS SEEKING AN ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES DIRECTOR

The City of Tucson, 32nd largest City in the United States, is seeking a dynamic and innovative leader to serves as its Environmental Services Director. Located in the natural beauty and unsurpassed climate of Arizona’s Sonoran Desert, the City of Tucson is a progressive organization that has been recognized as one of the MegaTrend cities of the 21st Century with its emerging presence as a center for optics, astronomy and health services. Reporting to an Assistant City Manager, the Environmental Services Director is responsible for the management of a $43 million budget and a staff of 250 employees providing the citizens of Tucson with solid waste and curbside recycling, landfill management, and environmental protection services. The Department is comprised of four operating divisions: Administration, Customer Service and Environmental Planning, Collection Services, and Environmental Compliance and Landfill Operations. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with significant relevant experience managing a large, multi-functional enterprise or entrepreneurial operation. A Bachelor’s degree in business or a technical field and at least seven years of senior level supervisory , operation and financial management experience is required; Master’s degree highly desirable. Salary negotiable depending on qualifications and experience.
