Senior level manager involved in planning, organizing, coordinating, directing, and evaluating the various facets of services involved in the City’s Solid Waste Collection business. Involves direct management responsibility through subordinate supervisors of all activities of residential collection; identifies and defines areas where programs could be improved. Requires four year degree in Public Administration, Environmental Engineering or related field or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the necessary knowledge and abilities; a minimum of five years in management experience in a major public works or solid waste operation including knowledge of methods and technology of solid waste collection; knowledge of financial management and costing of services; excellent written and interpersonal skills, high involvement team experience and SWANA certification (or ability to obtain within eighteen months of hire); considerable independent judgment and initiative is needed in formulating, implementing and supervising the administration of broad programs and activities.
